Essential Question - Puritan Era

What happens to community when the American Dream is not available to all? How does the community respond to this inequality?

Bradford/Bradstreet/Taylor/Edwards Essential Question:
Poets express problems that they have experience or experiencing; however they tell of the consequences when the American Dream is not afforded to them and how they deal with it. Bradford and Edwards tell stories of how people are punished for disobeying God. This shows when God is disrespected he takes control and punishes you by taking your American Dream. Bradstreet and Taylor tell a story of hope and faith when their American Dream is not yet completed, yet describing how they can be completed. This shows how these poets share the same American Dream and their hope and faith that will bring them closer to completion. All of these poets tell of their stories and how their American Dream can be taken or resolved.
